On June 3rd of this year I will be presenting a body of work at the Lyndon House Arts Center in Athens GA that is the culmination of a year and a half of work and experience; and will feature 100 original works of art. The show, titled "Beloved Land" is an exploration into the land between the forks of the Oconee River and the beings that are fed by its rich waters. The all-day opening event will feature a family nature drawing workshop, a lecture by local Creek/Muscogee historian Steven Scurry, an artist lecture, a gallery tour, and an opening reception with refreshments in the evening. There also will be a limited edition screen print with 100% of the proceeds going to the Lyndon House. Along with this 30% of the proceeds from sales of original works will go to the Lyndon House as well. The show will run through 22nd of July.
I am very happy with the work that has been created so far; I am deep in the process of creating assemblages from the 100 drawings and carvings I created for this show. The pieces (as you can see below) involve a wide variety of media and techniques, and every element has a story. It's been a wonderful exploration so far, and I can't wait to finish up the works. The pieces pictured below are in various states of progress.
I hope you can make it to the opening, this truly is the culmination of over a decade of practice as a professional image-maker. May we all honor the Sacred places where we Reside. I give thanks to the Ancestors of this land for all the guidance they have given me in these Creations.
